Placement will develop managerial skills
Five Asda head office staff are taking time out from their work to test their creative ability by providing specialist business advice to arts organisations.

The staff, from business development managers to accountants, will embark on a six to 12 month placement with an arts organisation overseen by the Arts & Business Yorkshire Skills Bank, following their induction in March.

The move will allow them to develop their managerial skills in a creative environment. Areas of business include business planning, financial management, personnel and marketing.

More than nine senior staff from the supermarket have taken part in similar projects over the past three years.

Asda head of business development Hemant Patel said 'Asda sees the Arts & Business Skills Bank programme as an invaluable way of not only developing our own colleagues but also as a way of giving something back to the wider community.'
