German health and beauty operator DM-Drogerie Markt plans to expand online this summer with a transactional ecommerce site.
The retailer will offer its private-label range, as well as providing additional product information on its product line.
“With our online shop we open to our customers a new DM-Markt, which in Germany is easily accessible any time, anywhere,” said chairman Erich Harsch.
“We want to give people who do not have a DM-Markt in their area or have no time to shop during the opening times the opportunity to shop with us.”
The retailer will offer home delivery and click-and-collect. It emphasised that it would charge for delivery because “the customers who shop in our markets should not have to pay the shipping costs with increased prices,” said Harsch.
In the last financial year, DM generated sales of EUR6.4bn (£4.8bn) in Germany, and EUR8.3bn (£6.2bn) in Europe.
