HMV and Paperchase are the latest retailers to sign for stores at Intu Watford shopping centre following the opening of Theo Paphitis’ lingerie brand Boux Avenue last month.
HMV has reopened in the centre after administrators closed the store in March. The retailer, which was acquired out of administration in April by Hilco, has opened a 3,172 sq ft shop at Intu Watford.
Paperchase has signed for a 1,679 sq ft store that is set to open in the coming weeks.
The centre is undergoing a major £100m extension in order to attract new retailers.
In recent months both Next and Ernest Jones have upsized at the centre while Waitorse debuted its little Waitrose concept at John Lewis.
Paperchase chief executive Timothy Melgund said: “Watford is an important market for Paperchase. The investment intu has made on both the fabric and tenant mix at Intu Watford has made this location perfect for our design aware customer base.”
HMV human resources director Steve West said: “This is a key location for HMV and we are delighted to return to the centre and look forward, once again, to providing our loyal customers with the very best music, film and games retail experience.”
Paphitis said: “Intu Watford is yet another important location and allows us to bring Boux Avenue’s unique and customer focused store design to the area.”
Intu asset management director Jonathan Ainsley said: “As our £100m development plans for intu Watford draw closer, retailers are keen to be a part of a centre which delivers a loyal and affluent local shopper base.”
