HMV has made two senior management appointments as the retailer continues its “strategic development as a multichannel entertainment brand”.
HMV commercial director Gary Warren (pictured) has been appointed to the newly created position of managing director of content and talent at the HMV-owned live venue business Mama Group.
Steve Napleton replaces Warren with immediate effect. Napleton joined HMV in 2007 in the role of supply chain director. In his new position he will be responsible for all areas of product as well as supply chain, customer services, e-commerce, digital and tickets.
Warren, who moves with immediate effect, headed up the HMV product department for the past three years and has been with HMV for 24 years.
In his new role Warren will report to Mama Group chief executive Dean James, and will be responsible for promoting shows across the Mama venues as well as overseeing the direct management of Mama artists such as Franz Ferdinand and Crystal Castles through their management companies.
HMV group chief executive Simon Fox said: “Both these appointments are of strategic importance to HMV and potentially of significant value to our suppliers and their artists.
“In taking on this exciting new role at MAMA, Gary can play a key part in bringing our live and retail businesses more closely together, with all the benefits and synergies this will create.
“Similarly, in combining HMV product with e-commerce and digital, Steve now has the opportunity to develop a powerful commercial platform within the business that will further support our multichannel aspirations.”
