Customers will be able to get DIY materials delivered from B&Q Local stores

Launching later in August, customers can get on-demand delivery of over 600 DIY products from their nearest B&Q Local store in as little as 25 minutes.

Available products include interior and outdoor paint, decorating, painting tools, plumbing and electricals, bathroom essentials, as well as tools and hardware.

The partnership is launching across nine B&Q Local stores in Camden, Harrow, Palmers Green, Streatham, Sutton, Tooting, Wandsworth, Wood Green and Staines-upon-Thames.

Deliveroo said it is launching the partnership after searches on its app for DIY products such as paint and screws have increased by 74% and 35% respectively over the last six months.

It also “supports B&Q’s ambition to give customers more choice of when and how their purchases are delivered and helps B&Q to reach a new target customer base and serve new shopping missions”.

It is the latest non-food retail tie-up since Deliveroo launched its Deliveroo Shopping section in November. Alongside its partnership with B&Q, Deliveroo also has tie-ups with Screwfix, Ann Summers, Boots and The Perfume Shop.

Deliveroo chief operating officer Eric French said: “We are thrilled to welcome home improvement giant B&Q to the Deliveroo platform. There is a huge home improvement market in the UK and our data shows that customers want the convenience of being able to order everything from paint brushes and paint to tools for delivery in as little as 25 minutes. We are excited by the expansion of Deliveroo Shopping and this latest collaboration shows we are not only transforming the way people eat but also the way people shop.”

Amelie Gallichan-Todd, supply and logistics director at B&Q, said: “We’re constantly looking at how we can help make home improvement projects easier. This includes helping customers to get their home improvement products in the most efficient and convenient way possible by meeting increasing consumer demand for speed, convenience and mobile access. We’re delighted to be partnering with Deliveroo to test on-demand delivery for our customers served by nine of our B&Q Local high street stores in London.”
