Homebase’s new owners have unveiled plans to shift the DIY retailer’s store support centre to Witan Gate House, Milton Keynes in December.
Homebase, which was acquired by Australian conglomerate Wesfarmers earlier this year and is in the process of being transformed into its Bunnings brand, currently shares an office building with Argos.
The new site at Witan Gate House measures 55,000 sq ft and is located less than half a mile from the retailer’s current offices.
Homebase Bunnings managing director Peter Davis said: “It has always been our intention to stay within the Milton Keynes area and it will be great to have our own offices and continue to work towards building strong foundations for our business.”
Sales at Homebase came in at £320m in its first full quarter since the aquisition and on a like-for-like basis customer participation as measured by transactions grew 8.4%.
Earlier this year Wesfarmers said it would cut nearly 20% of its head office staff in a bid to streamline support functions at the DIY chain.
The number of staff at its store support centre now stands at around 600.
The new owners are aiming to open between four and six pilot Bunnings Warehouse stores early next year.
