Furniture and home giant Ikea aims to expand its presence in the North West where it will open three Plan and Order Points.
The small-format Ikea branches will open in Aintree, Preston, and Stockport. More Plan and Order Points, and services include consultations with Ikea kitchen and bedroom planners.
The branches, measuring between 70sq m and 90sq m, will be in retail parks and shopping centres and will showcase approximately five kitchen and wardrobe solutions, as well offering consultation.
Ikea said that although the points are much smaller than its standard stores, they “will be packed with information, samples, tools and specialist knowledge needed to plan a kitchen or bedroom storage solution.” The stores will take orders for delivery – there is no product to take away.
Ikea UK and Ireland deputy country retail manager Marsha Smith said: “Our investment in the North West is part of our long-term plan to transform our retail business, making it easier for our customers to shop with us in a number of convenient ways. With a variety of stores, service offers and digital solutions that complement each other, our aim is to be there for our customers, however they want to meet us.”
