Home and DIY giant Kingfisher has named Sue Harries as its new group ecommerce director.
Harries has been promoted from her current role as ecommerce director at Screwfix.
Harries, who takes up her new role today, has worked for Screwfix for 15 years and was integral to the growth of its digital proposition. Online sales increased by 80% during her tenure as ecommerce director and over a third of all Screwfix sales are now transacted online.
A statement from Kingfisher said Harries’ ecommerce experience and knowledge of the DIY sector will be used to “significantly drive ecommerce sales across the group”.
Kingfisher chief customer and digital officer JJ Van Oosten said: “We are always especially proud to promote colleagues from within the business, so I’m delighted to announce Sue’s new role. She has played a key part in growing Screwfix’s digital channels, and now the full group will benefit from her drive and expertise.
“Sue is a great example of how we nurture talent at Kingfisher, rising through the ranks at Screwfix supported by leadership programmes and secondment opportunities.”
The DIY conglomerate completed an overhaul of its executive team last month with the appointment of Kate Seljeflot as chief people officer.
Since the departure of Véronique Laury in September, new group chief executive Thierry Garnier has been given free rein to reconstruct the business and has replaced many members of its executive board.
The struggling DIY chain faces potential relegation from the FTSE 100 in a reshuffle that will take place later this week.
