CDS plans to open up to 10 The Range Superstores each month in 2025

Homebase stores in Birmingham, Christchurch and Glasgow are set to become The Range Superstores and will reopen on January 17.

The new format locations will combine “the exceptional product variety The Range is known for with the home improvement expertise of Homebase”.

The stores will also feature Garden Centres by Homebase inside and selected stores will house Kitchens by Homebase.

CDS said it plans to roll out up to 10 of the new superstore formats each month next year to transform the Homebase locations it now owns.

The openings and rebrands are anticipated to create around 1,600 new jobs in 2025.

CDS group chief executive Alex Simpkin said: “We’re fully committed to retaining the best of Homebase’s heritage while introducing the broader product range and value that customers expect from us as The Range.

“While those Homebase stores acquired by CDS will continue to trade as they are during the transition period, we’re focused on ensuring a seamless transfer of these locations into our new store format.

“We’re also eager to help consumers nationwide by investing in the Homebase brand with the relaunch of homebase.co.uk, and expect to have this platform live to support families in all of their home improvement endeavours very soon.”

CDS also confirmed the Homebase website will remain transactional under the management of the joint administrators until it is handed over to CDS in early 2025.

CDS said it is investing in a new website for the business that will be “immediately relaunched with thousands of Homebase-specific home improvement products”.
