Victorian Plumbing is to open a new 544,000 sq ft, purpose-built distribution centre in Lancashire after agreeing on a 20-year lease.
The bathroom retailer is to invest £50m in the new facility, which will ”enable consolidation of a number of the group’s existing sites” when it opens in the autumn.
The retailer said it would fit out the new facility over the current and next financial years and it will be fully operational after a period of dual running with its existing sites.
The cost of the site will be “broadly neutral when compared to current property costs”, after the initial period of investment and operational transition.
Founder and chief executive Mark Radcliffe said: “This new facility represents another exciting milestone for the business, providing us with the capacity to manage growth in the long term while further establishing Victorian Plumbing’s position as the number-one bathroom retailer in the UK. I am also delighted that this new facility will create additional jobs and further support our investment in the local area.”
