Wickes is cutting 100 jobs in its head office team in a bid to drive cost efficiencies across the business.
The Travis Perkins-owned retailer will be making redundancies across a range of roles in its head office in Watford.
The news of the cull comes less than a month after the retailer recorded a 4.6% slump in first-quarter like-for-like sales, which it attributed to “poor weather conditions and the current weakness in the UK DIY market”.
A spokeswoman for Wickes said: “In order to continue to drive growth for our business, we have been reshaping our support centre to allow us to be leaner and more agile, and focus on key areas of growth in our multi-channel/digital businesses.
“The new structure will result in the reduction of approximately 100 out of 7,000 roles in the business. The business is committed to fully supporting all those affected.”
Travis Perkins’ consumer arm, which comprises Wickes and Toolstation, posted an 18.8% slump in full-year adjusted operating profit to £82m in February.
