Home Retail Group, owner of Argos and Homebase, has acquired specified rights to the electricals brands Alba and Bush.
The retailer paid£15.25 million for the intellectual property rights for exclusive use on consumer electronics and certain other goods.
Home Retail Group said: “The trademarks are household names with very strong heritage which have high awareness and purchase frequency with Argos customers.”
Home Retail Group said it expects the deal to be broadly earnings neutral for the year ended February 2010.
Alba, the company that owns the brands, was planning to stop supplying the products as part of its restructuring plans.
