Retail news round-up: Amazon offers live TV service in the UK, and Style Group Brands seeks potential investors.
Amazon launches live TV service in the UK
Amazon is set to offer a live television channel on its video platform in the UK, the BBC reported.
Customers who subscribe to Prime Video will be able to gain access to live and on-demand video such as Discovery and Eurosport at an extra monthly subscription fee.
Amazon is also bringing its checkout-free grocery stores Amazon Go to Europe and the UK.
The UK Intellectual Property Office approved the company’s application to trademark the slogans “No Lines. No Checkout. (No, Seriously.)” and “No Queue. No Checkout. (No, Seriously.)”
Style Group Brands searches for potential investors
Style Group Brands is in search for new investors amid administration fears, risking 1,000 jobs, Sky News reported.
According to a source, the retailer is in talks with potential buyers with results expected to come next week.
If Style, which is owned by Sun European Partners, does appoint administrators, KPMG would handle the process.
A potential sale or restructuring could lead to a reduction in the number of outlets under a new owner.
A spokesperson for Sun European declined to comment.
