John Lewis weekly sales jump 5% due to Black Friday discounts
John Lewis saw its weekly sales leap 4.8% over last year, thanks to a boost provided by Black Friday discounts both online and in its department stores.
The department store group reported £187.7m in sales in the week to November 28.
Sales on its website were up 15.5% from the same week a year earlier.
The retailer had said the US-led promotional bonanza was its busiest-ever single day of trading.
Shareholders in Asos vote against directors’ pay policy
Asos’ investors are opposing its directors’ remuneration policy, with almost 17% of them voting against it.
The fashion etailer’s boss Nick Beighton was handed a total remuneration of £804,398, up from £407,371.
