Etail sales on Christmas Day and Boxing Day this year are expected to have made more than £890m as shoppers browse the Sales while at home.
Online retail association IMRG estimates that £350m will have been spent on Christmas Day and £540m on Boxing Day.
It said £240m of this will have been spent on mobile devices, many of which were received as gifts. Of the mobile spend £100m is estimated to have been spent on Christmas Day and more than £140m on Boxing Day.
According to the IMRG Quarterly Benchmarking report, visits to retailers’ websites via mobile devices now account for 38% of total visits, up 58% on the same period last year.
