DIY retailer Homebase has launched a reserve-and-collect iPhone app as it revealed online sales soared 63% in the past year.
More than 30,000 products across 13 categories including environmental products and a Christmas category can be browsed on Apple’s iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch devices. Items can be reserved and then collected in all 330 Homebase stores. Customers can organise search results by customer review score.
Reserved items are guaranteed to be ready for collection within three hours, which Homebase said is the “fastest multichannel shopping service in the UK DIY sector”.
Homebase said 40% of its customers go online before shopping in-store, and that online sales have soared 63% in 12 months.
The retailer said it benefited from synergies with its Home Retail Group stablemate Argos in developing the app, which was designed by the same in-house team.
Homebase head of multichannel and planning Harvey Bennett said: “We have developed the first stage of our mobile proposition to cater for the growth of website visits from on the go mobile users. Future developments will continue to improve the cross-channel Homebase shopping experience for this emerging consumer base.”
