Disabled people can't spend money in shops they can't get into
Retailers could be missing out on extra revenues of£80 billion a year if they don't do more to make their stores more friendly for disabled shoppers. The figure is how much the UK's 10 million disabled adults have to spend each year, according a report from the Department for Work and Pensions.

However, unless retailers adjust stores to make them easily accessible, as laid down in the Disability Discrimination Act, they are shutting their doors to a significant portion of consumers.

Minister for Disabled People Maria Eagle said: 'If traders want to make sure business is booming this Christmas they should really think about their disabled customers. Disabled shoppers will take their money somewhere else if they can't get in. Not only will business lose out on their money but also that of their family and friends shopping with them.'
