HyperCity chief executive Andrew Levermore is to leave the Indian retailer at the end of the year.
Levermore, whose retail career includes stints at House of Fraser in the UK and Makro and Edgars in South Africa, told Retail Week that he will move on in December after four and a half years in India.
Levermore said: “It has been a very rewarding time both personally and professionally but it is time to pay some attention to my family needs and return to a more familiar lifestyle.
“The next five months will be very busy as we launch the next three HyperCity stores and conduct an international search for my successor.
“I am pursuing a number of opportunities at present, but at this early stage have not finalised anything. I will be remaining on the board of HyperCity as a non-executive director to facilitate some continuity.”
K Raheja-owned HyperCity recently revised its growth plans to focus on big-box formats and multichannel retailing. It has called off plans to develop its convenience store format Express City.
