Swedish furniture giant Ikea has bought a retail park in Theale, near Reading.

The retailer has acquired the 140,000 sq ft Pincents Lane and Berkshire Retail Park in Calcot near Theale from Hammerson as part of a strategy to buy land for new stores.

The park includes retailers Homebase and Carpetright.

While it is understood Ikea has not confirmed plans to build a store on the site as yet, it is thought it is working on plans to submit an application.
