Grocer Aditya Birla has opened its eighth hypermarket in Hyderabad, and taken the opportunity to reiterate its aggressive expansion and private-label strategies.
Chief executive Thomas Varghese said that Aditya Birla intends to grow private-label sales to 30% across the FMCG, clothing and general merchandise categories.
The group expects to be EBITDA positive by 2012 and has set a target to open 1,000 supermarkets and 64 hypermarkets by 2015.
