Auchan has opened its first Raduga hypermarket in Penza, just outside of Moscow.
Head of Auchan Russia Jean-Pierre Zhermen said this was the start of a chain in Russian cities. He said a similar store would be opened in Kaluga, western Russia, by the year’s end.
If the new store is a success, a further 100 Raduga outlets could be rolled out at the end of 2010.
Separately, the retailer is testing a number of new formats in its home market.
