Carrefour’s global brand director Laurent Blum has left the retailer. Before his appointment by chief executive Lars Olofsson at the end of 2009, Blum was vice-president of Nestlé Waters France, responsible for marketing and sales. Blum will reportedly not be replaced, and his duties will be reassigned between the internal teams.
For 2011 Carrefour reported gross sales of E1.5bn (£1.25bn), a 1.1% increase or 1.7% rise on a constant currency basis compared to 2010. Like-for-like sales on a constant currency basis edged up 0.7%, helped by emerging markets. The retailer said that 2011 operating income is expected to be at the lower end of its prior guidance, with a decline of 15% to 20%.
