Carrefour’s joint venture in Turkey with Sabanci Holding is under pressure, following the sudden resignation of four members of the board of directors.

According to Turkey’s Hürriyet newspaper, Chairman Haluk Dinçer – in place since 2004 – as well as three other members have resigned as of July 16. The gesture is said to have been motivated by the minority position of Sabanci Holding in the joint venture, and its limited power to make decisions. Carrefour and Sabanci’s relationship has been tense for several months.
