Discount grocer Colruyt has posted an 8.5% rise in first-quarter revenue to €1.8bn (£1.5bn).
The growth was attributed to an increase in customers and the positive influence of summer weather, supporting the sale of fresh and barbeque-related produce. The group’s retail trade division reported turnover up 7.1% to €1.4bn (£1.2bn).
At the end of June 2010, the group had 218 Colruyt, 67 Okay, six Bio-Planet and 40 DreamLand stores in Belgium. In France, the group had 49 stores.
