Grocer Delhaize Group posted mixed first-half results. In Belgium revenues grew 5.5% to €2.34bn (£1.91bn), supported by 4.7% like-for-like growth and new store openings. Alfa Beta in Greece put in another strong performance with a 7.3% increase in revenues to €765m (£627m) and gained further market share.
Operations in Romania and Indonesia also saw solid revenue growth of 19.2% at identical exchange rates to €141m (£116m).
In contrast, the US, revenue decreased 1.6% to $9.35bn (£5.99bn) at identical exchange rates, mainly driven by a 2.6% decline in like-for-likes.Operating profit fell 4.8% at actual exchange rates to €468m (£384.5m).
