Fast Retailing, Japan’s largest clothing retailer, has said that it plans to open up to 100 Uniqlo stores in Taiwan as part of its plan to become the world’s top fashion brand by 2020. This figure is double the goal set out in September 2010, which was to establish 50 stores in Taiwan over 10 years.
The retailer reported that its first store, which opened last year at the Uni-President Hankyu Department Store in Taipei’s Xinyi District, was very successful and it is confident that further stores will be profitable.
