Migros Basel, a co-operative of Swiss grocer Migros, has shelved expansion plans for Germany for the indefinite future.
In an interview with Bilanz magazine, Migros chief executive Herbert Bolliger said Migros Basel’s expansion strategy had not worked.
Migros entered the German market in 1995, but operates only four Migros stores in the south of the country, despite saying in 2008 that it planned to open at least 10 stores.
