Japanese convenience store operator Ministop is to open a convenience store chain in Vietnam, hoping to tap into potential demand in the market.

The company, which is a subsidiary of Japanese retail giant Aeon, said that it signed a basic accord with a unit of Trung Nguyen Holdings of Vietnam to create a franchised convenience store chain in the country.
