Netflix bounced back from the difficulties it faced last summer to report strong revenue growth and an increase in subscriptions for its fourth quarter ended December 31, 2011.
During the period, the entertainment provider posted a 47% surge in revenue to $876m (£558m), although net income declined 13% to $41m (£26m). For the full year, group revenue reached $3.2bn (£2bn), compared with $2.16bn (£1.28bn) in 2010. The company ended the year with 24.4 million unique US subscribers. Domestic subscriptions rose from 21.45 million to 21.67 million during the quarter. The company’s international subscriptions increased from 1.48 million to 1.86 million as it expanded in Latin America, and entered the UK and Ireland.
