Sales in the first quarter of 2010 at luxury goods and retail company PPR were up 1.3% compared with the first quarter of 2009, rising to €4.13bn (£3.6bn).
Sales at Fnac, the international entertainment retail chain of which PPR is the majority shareholder, were up 1.6%. In France, Fnac sales were unchanged, while international sales were up 6.3%.
Sales at furnishings subsidiary Conforama increased 2.6%, the best quarterly results in two years. In France, sales were up 3%, while outside of France sales rose 2.3% in the quarter. Sales at ailing mail order and ecommerce business Redcats were down 0.5%, indicating a slight upturn in its fortunes.
