Japan-based Seven & I plans to enter the Russian market. The convenience store group is expected to set up a joint venture or franchise agreement with local partners, however, it has not yet commented on the development. Russian Franchising Association head Yuri Mickle said: “We have studied the strategy of 7-Eleven. Several of our major operators have already tried to bring the player in the Russian market, but these attempts ended in failure.”
