Target is offering free shipping on all products on its website in the run-up to Christmas as it seeks to lure customers from rivals.
Customers will receive free shipping on any order size up until December 20 as part the US discount retailer’s “expect more, pay less” promise.
Alongside the free shipping, Target has rolled out its Store Pickup click-and-collect service to 65,000 products. It reported that 80% of its orders are now fulfilled within one hour.
Target chief executive and chairman Brian Cornell said: “Target is poised to deliver an unparalleled holiday shopping season.
“Our value proposition will be unrivaled, with compelling promotions and an exceptional shopping experience online and in our stores.”
Target’s free shipping aims to trump rivals including Walmart, Best Buy and Amazon.
Walmart began offering free shipping on selected products during the 2010 Christmas season and offers free shipping for purchases greater than $50 (£31), while Best Buy offers free shipping on orders of $35 (£22) or more.
Members of Amazon Prime can pay $99 (£61) a year to get free shipping on more than 20 million items, while non-Prime members get free shipping on orders over $35.
