New Heights, Furniture Village and Reid Furniture have all shown growth in a sector marred by profit warnings from discount operators such as Land of Leather and ScS.
New Heights, comprising Sofa Workshop and its eponymous chain, recorded 32 per cent like-for-like growth between January 2 and January 14.
Co-founder Toby Ash said: “People are prepared to spend money on something that is exactly right for them.”
Furniture Village finance director Ed Duggan said the 35-store chain posted a “healthy” like-for-like increase in its Sales.
Reid Furniture, which has 33 stores, reported like-for-likes up 28 per cent for the first 11 days of its Sale to January 6. Chief executive Alan Marnie said: “We stock cheaper products to drive footfall, but customers often go for higher-priced items.”
