JD Sports has agreed a£400,000 deal with hand-held device manufacturer Datalogic for 200 Viper RF-3 portable data collection terminals.
The terminals will be used in JD's two distribution centres to check the movement of stock, including receipt of goods, storage and shipping.
The terminals will be integrated with JD's warehouse management.
JD distribution manager Gary Plumpton said: 'Datalogic made design changes to accommodate the intensive demands of our warehouses.'
The robust units are tested to withstand being dropped 1.8 million times onto concrete.
