JJB combines retail and health at Newport shop

JJB Sports has won planning consent for a two-level retail and health and fitness unit at Newport in South Wales.

The unit will anchor the 210,000 sq ft (19,500 sq m) 28 East Retail Park, which was recently completed by Newbridge Construction.

JJB Sports is taking 23,750 sq ft (2,200 sq m) of ground-floor space for the health and fitness operation, with an additional 14,000 sq ft (1,300 sq m) on the first floor for a superstore, with opening scheduled for early next year.

Other occupiers at the park include a 100,000 sq ft (9,300 sq m) Big W, as well as Comet, MFI, Allied Carpets, Klaussner and KFC.

Two units of 10,800 sq ft (1,000 sq m) and 14,000 sq ft (1,300 sq m) remain available through letting agents Wilkinson Williams and Linnells.
