Retail entrepreneur John Kinnaird is reportedly plotting a return to retail with the launch of a new footwear chain.

Kinnaird, who has previously owned shoe chains Faith and Dolcis, is looking to buy between 35 and 40 of the empty Faith stores and has been in talks with footwear suppliers such as Moda in Pelle over a supply deal, according to The Independent.

Kinnaird is working with former business partners Dean Argent and Paul Drake on the new venture, which could launch as early as October. He plans to plough some of his own money into the footwear chain but is understood to have been in talks with private equity firms including Epic.

Last week Debenhams bought 115 Faith concessions from administrators Mazars after the chain fell into administration in April.
