As John Lewis shutters eight more stores and unveils plans for “smaller, service-oriented” shops in neighbourhood high streets, Retail Week examines whether the business can make a small-format department store work.

John Lewis revealed yesterday that eight of its stores will not be reopening on April 12 as the business seeks to further streamline its portfolio.
