John Lewis is further expanding its ‘at home’ concept with a new store in Ashford, Kent which is due to open in autumn 2012.
The department store is investing £7m to develop the shop on a new site, just off the M20.
The 40,000 sq ft store, which focuses on furniture, electrical and home technology, will extend over two floors and includes a customer cafe.
John Lewis managing director Andy Street said: “Our plans to open in Ashford will help realise our ambition to have more than ten ‘at home’ shops by the end of 2012 and we look forward to providing shoppers with greater convenience and ease of access to our inspiring products, great value and exceptional service.”
The John Lewis ‘at home’ concept launched in Poole in October 2009 and stores in Croydon, Swindon and Tunbridge Wells followed in 2010.
The retailer has already revealed plans to open ‘at home’ stores in Chester and Tamworth this autumn and in Newbury by spring 2012.
The department retailer is being represented by Cushman & Wakefield.
