The Danish retailer’s first UK sites will be in Lincoln and at Mansfield in Nottinghamshire.
Last March, Retail Week revealed that Jysk had retained property agency Donaldsons to scout for locations in and around Yorkshire for its first phase of expansion in the UK.
Jysk will become the latest Scandinavian furniture retailer to explore the UK market, after the arrival of Ilva in August last year. It will join the value end of the fragmented UK homewares and furniture sector, which is dominated by Ikea.
Jysk generates a turnover of e1.4 billion (£1.04 billion) a year from 1,200 stores worldwide. About 300 are operated by franchise partners in Canada, Spain and Russia. It will also target the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Switzerland and Italy as part of its wider international expansion.
