The move follows King Sturge’s£3 million acquisition of retail specialist Leslie Furness, which is based in London, in January.
The acquisition of Hamilton Glen is another step by King Sturge towards ramping up its retail arm, which is split regionally into London and the Midlands; the Southwest and Wales; and the North and Scotland.
Hamilton Glen was set up in 1991 by Fiona Hamilton, who began her property career with King Sturge in Edinburgh.
She said: “I am excited because although we’re a niche practice, I was frustrated at being pigeon-holed as just Scottish. It gives me a much bigger platform.”
Hamilton Glen’s clients include landlords Lend Lease, Hermes, Richardsons, Wilson Bowden and Town Centre Securities.
Hamilton Glen is bringing with it a team of seven including Fiona Hamilton, Douglas Hogg, Terry McFarlane and Collin Cammidge, who will be joining King Sturge’s new Glasgow office.
King Sturge national head of in-town retail Charles Miller said: “We’ve had plans for some time to expand our retail property services in the UK. This acquisition is a major step forward towards achieving this ambition.”
