Kingfisher is closing its dedicated e-business unit ahead of the planned demerger of its electricals business.
E-Kingfisher was created to support the development of several transactional Web sites within the group. However, since the departure of Ian Cheshire to take the role of chief executive, international and development, at Kingfisher in September, the division has been gradually winding down.
A spokesman said: 'It was set up to fast-track the development of the brands and it was always envisaged that they would then be taken back into their respective divisions.'
Diy.com and Screwfix.com are being managed by their own teams, as is the e-Comet site.
The other key sites for the electricals and DIY businesses, including Darty.com and Castorama.fr, will also become autonomous.
Last week, Kingfisher announced that it is selling its German electricals business, ProMarkt, to its original owners, Michael and Matthias Wegert.
