Matchesfashion has named Paolo de Cesare as its new chief executive.
The luxury fashion retailer has been searching for its new boss since March when former chief executive Ajay Kavan made a shock exit after one year in the job.
De Cesare will take the reins later this year. He has 30 years of experience in the fashion and luxury industry, previously acting as president and chief executive of French department store group Printemps for 12 years until March 2020.
During his tenure at Printemps, he overhauled the retailer’s stores and refocused on luxury brands. Prior to this he spent 24 years at Proctor & Gamble.
Executive chair Maureen Chiquet has led the business in the meantime, but will return to her position on the board.
De Cesare wrote on Linkedin: “Proud to be joining Matchesfashion as their new CEO. The company pioneered luxury ecommerce and will continue to innovate and delight the most demanding global customers!”
