Stone Island has announced the appointment of Robert Triefus as the brand’s new chief executive from June 1.
Triefus joins after a 15-year career at Gucci, where he was most recently chief executive of Gucci Vault and Metaverse Ventures as well as senior executive vice-president of corporate and brand strategy.
He also previously had senior roles at fashion retailers including Giorgio Armani and Calvin Klein.
Triefus left Gucci last month after it was revealed he was eyeing “another career opportunity”.
At Stone Island, which was acquired by the Moncler Group in March 2021, Triefus will report to the board of directors chaired by non-executive director Carlo Rivetti.
Moncler chief executive and chair Remo Ruffini said: “After a first phase during which the company has taken direct control of its most important markets while developing a strong direct-to-consumer culture, Robert will now be instrumental in driving the strategic development and resonance of the Stone Island brand worldwide, always capitalizing on its unique roots.”
Rivetti added: “I am delighted that Robert will be joining the Stone Island family. I am convinced that his outstanding industry experience and deep knowledge of brand strategy, combined with the valuable contribution of the Stone Island team, will enable the brand to achieve its full potential.
“I look forward to working together to shape this next chapter of a brand with an extraordinary history and identity.”
The appointment comes as the Moncler Group posted a 23% increase in group sales year on year to €726.4m (£636m) in its first quarter, while Stone Island posted a 5% increase in revenue to €121.6m (£106.5m).
