Toy and stationery distributor JA Magson has acquired Toyzone, the retailer that went into administration at the beginning of this month.
Magsons, backed by investor Agilo, has also bought Youngsters – Toyzone’s stablemate buying group. The integration of the businesses will double Magsons’ turnover.
Toyzone has 20 shops across England and Northern Ireland and a warehouse in Wallingford, Oxfordshire.
Agilo specialises in buying distressed businesses. Founding partner Jason Granite said: “This acquisition is the second we have made since we acquired Magsons last year and signals our belief in the brand, the market and the opportunities to grow and consolidate.”
About 200 jobs have been secured by the deal.
