Exclusive: TikTok Shop has revealed it achieved “record-breaking” sales over Black Friday, making it the platform’s biggest ever UK sales event to date, Retail Week can reveal.
It recorded a 179% year-on-year rise in revenue over the Black Friday period, with a 131% annual increase in the number of shoppers turning to TikTok Shop to explore brands and access to discounts.
Triple digit growth was partly driven by a rise in live shopping, with an average of 6,000 live shopping sessions happening per day in the UK between November 25 and December 2. This week also saw TikTok Shop host a huge sales event offering up to 60% off hundreds of brands.
Best-selling categories spanned beauty, home and living and fashion, with top selling brands on the platform including beauty brands P Louise, Made by Mitchell, The Beauty Crop and HNB Cosmetics and Lookfantastic.
TikTok Shop UK head of operations Jan Wilk said: “The incredible surge in sales during the Black Friday week highlights the transformative power of LIVE shopping, which brings the experience of interacting with sellers in real time, just like in-store shopping but from the comfort of your home.
“With TikTok Shop, we’ve made it easier for our community to find and purchase everything they need, from unforgettable Christmas gifts to special treats for themselves. Seeing such phenomenal growth is exciting, and we can’t wait to build on this momentum throughout the festive season.”
