Under pressure retailer Marks & Spencer is missing its sales targets in China, which it has identified as a key market for international growth, by as much as 30%.
The Telegraph reported that sales at its 14 Chinese stores have fallen well short of the targets set by its executives.
M&S declined to comment on its internal targets but told the newspaper that its Chinese stores are “trading well”.
Earlier this month, M&S revealed it had suffered a 3.8% like-for-like sales fall in the run-up to Christmas.
It said that international sales jumped 4.1% over the period but did not break down sales for individual countries.
