Value chain Matalan is to create 2,300 additional roles across its store network over this year’s Christmas period.
Across its 208 stores an average of 11 extra employees will be hired. It will hire 2,300 temporary sales assistants to help support customer service and enhance their in store experience over the festive season.
Retail director Mike Jeans said: “We are pleased to be announcing the creation of 2,300 jobs throughout the country during the Christmas period. We are looking for sales assistants who focus on making sure every potential Christmas present is on the sales floor, who love to work in a busy environment, but above all else, those who strive to keep our customers smiling We are looking forward to welcoming new colleagues to help Matalan grow.”
