Furniture retailer MFI will open its massive warehouse and distribution centre in South Yorkshire tomorrow.
MP and cabinet minister Ed Miliband will officially open the facility – which is the size of two Wembley Stadiums – in the former pit village of Thorne.
MFI has invested£65 million in the 750,000 sq ft centre, which will have created 350 local jobs by the end of the year. The warehouse will hold up to 95,000 pallets of products, including the company’s new kitchen and bedroom ranges that will launch in stores in time for Christmas.
MFI chief operating officer Chris Pavlosky said: "This is a first-class location for us to serve our growing network. We were impressed by the size and quality of the building, infrastructure, landscaping and environment, as well as the strategic location of the site.
"By Christmas, it will hold our entire new product line, with a retail value of£60 million."
