Mobile accessories etailer Mobile Fun has hit a major international expansion trail into 20 new countries by next March.
The retailer has already launched eight of the 20 sites due to launch by the end of the financial year. Mobile Fun already operates in 14 countries across Europe, North America and Asia with another 12 website launches planned over the next four months across Europe, South America and Asia.
The sites carry 6,500 accessories on average.
Mobile Fun group ecommerce manager Alex Ashman said: “Following the success of new European websites over the past year, we analysed ecommerce and mobile device penetration to select the new territories. The global market is a major growth driver for Mobile Fun, with international sales accounting for over 30% of our total orders. Although our expansion is a bold move for us, we are confident that our new websites will reinforce the fast growth we have enjoyed internationally so far.”
Mobile Fun is undertaking several initiatives to support the expansion programme including recruiting an international manager for Australia, with other country manager appointments set to follow as the company looks to bring in local expertise.
The retailer put itself up for sale last month, as revealed by Retail Week. It has hired corporate finance firm Altium Capital to manage the process.
