The owner of department store Elys of Wimbledon, Morleys Stores, has acquired Roomes department store in Upminster.

Morleys Stores has six department stores in total, including ones in Brixton and Ilford, and said it is “keen to consider any further opportunities that may present themselves in the future”.

Chairman Bernard Dreesmann said: “We are delighted to welcome Roomes into our store portfolio as it represents a perfect strategic and geographical fit.”
